Sensory Play. Stimulating children´s senses. Activity with pasta!



Sensory play is any activity that stimulates children´s senses. It helps children to develop and improve their gross and fine motor skills, coordination and concentration. It also provides an opportunity to use their senses to discover and explore their environment, develop their imagination and creative thinking.

 SENSORY PLAY ACTIVITIES (FIVE SENSES)

1. Hearing

2. Smell. Let´s play!
- Get five boxes or bags. Put one of these things in each bag: chocolate, shower cream, lemon juice or orange juice, cereals and strawberries or raspberries. Then, put a tape on your chil´s eyes. He will have to guess what is in the bags only guiaded by his sense of smell :D

3. Touch. Let´s play!
- Place a few boiled spaghetti in a bowl and put paint on them. Let the child play freely with the texture. 

4. Sight. Celery Absorbing Colored Water experiment!
- Fill five vases with water and the child adds food coloring to each. He carefully places a stalk of celery. Leave the celery in the vases for three days and tracked the progress often. Children will be delight to see the colors change :D

5. Taste. The three apples taste!
- Cut the three apples into small pieces. Put the pieces of each apple on a different plate. The child will notice the difference of the taste of each apple. The child will let you know which one liked him the most :)

Emotions and feelings :D. How do you feel? Experimentation of different types of emotions

We sometimes feel comfortable emotions like happiness, exciting, calm, but in other times we can experiment other feelings that are not very satisfactory for us, such as sadness, fear, anger or even confusion. However, all these feelings are ok, if we sometime do not feel sad, we cannot really know how the feeling of happiness is like.

The book is represented in a type of theatre called Black Light Theatre. This Teathre was done in the Autonomous University of Madrid by Irene and her classmates. :D

Psychomotricity. Physical activities to promote these two areas: psyche and motoric.

Psychomotricity is the relation between psyche (mental process) and motoric (physical activities). Children really enjoy doing different activities of psychomotricity. And it´s very easy to find an activity where children can promote these two areas of their development.

To do psychomotricity activities we do not need, necessarily, to use materials, just dancing or moving one part of your body we are working out our psysical and mental area.
