What kind of animal is a Bear?
Bears are mammals that belong to the family Usidae:
- The Sun Bear can be as small as four feet long and about 60 pounds.
- The Polar Bear can be as big as eight feet long and more than thousands pounds.
- They are found in the mountains, throughout of North merica, Soth America, Europe and Asia. Coomon characteristics of modern bears include bodies with stocky legs, long snouts, small rounded ears, shaggy hair, big paws and short tails.
- Bears can live up to 25 years in the wild and 50 in captivity. There are six species of bears, including the Polar bear.
- All bears are considered omnivores and they love the taste of honey, but each species has a preferred diet.
